MyriaNed Wireless Sensor Network MyriaNed Wireless Sensor Network

MyriaNed is a Wireless Sensor Network platform developed by DevLab, a cooperation of small- and medium sized companies in The Netherlands.

The MyriaNed platform has some unique properties that set it apart from other well-known WSN platforms such as TinyOS-based platforms:

Completely self-organizing: nodes need no configuration to form a network. Nodes can freely enter and leave existing networks, and the operation of the network never depends on particular topologies or on single nodes. This makes a MyriaNed network very easy to install and maintain, and extremely robust.

Predictable lifetime: the rate of energy consumption is uniform and static across the network. This means that you can predict the lifetime of all the nodes in the network, based on the specific application that is running on the network. The functionality of the entire network is guaranteed for that duration, and will not degrade during that time.

Modular design: the basic MyriaNode can be connected to a large number of different sensors and communication modules. Available sensors include:

  • temperature
  • humidity
  • air pressure
  • illumination
  • CO2 concentrations
  • acceleration
  • mechanic pressure
  • passive infrared (movement)
  • reed switches
  • light beam (gate sensor)
  • a/c current
  • heart rate
