Sense is a technology company providing context aware communication and transaction support. As the number of sensors in our society increases, so does the need for smart solutions that support our communication and transactions based on all the available information. Sense provides integral solutions that optimally make use of the availability of sensors to create local and networked context awareness.

What we stand for

Sense aims to support communication and coordination between people in complex and dynamic environments by using context awareness on a local and a networked level. Learning, forecasting and continuous adaptation are at the basis of our solutions. Therefor, local context awareness is much more important than global data availability. We see sensing as an integral part of adaptive systems - supporting networks of people rather than supervising people.

What we do

Sense provides technology that is capable of generating context awareness from many sensors. Sensors can be "real" sensors measuring temperature, light, GPS, or movement, or "virtual sensors, such as people's calendars which also offer information about the current and future world. People can also act as sensors themselves. A well-known example is when people are called upon to look out for a missing person, thereby collectively creating one huge sensor network. Local and networked context awareness can in turn be used to support communication and coordination between people. Sensing that an elderly person has fallen in the bathroom, and setting up communication with the nearest available person to give a hand is only one of many possible applications.
